ProPhoto 3 Beta juz oficjalnie!!!

ProPhoto 3 Beta

Z oficjalnej strony producenta:

Image features:

You’re all great photogs, so let’s start with some of the new features designed to show off your images.

Flash Galleries:

Maybe the coolest new feature of P3 is the super-slick, easy-to-use built in flash galleries.  To try it out, create a new post, then upload a group of photographs.  After WordPress is done crunching the images, click the button below the images that says “P3 Flash Gallery”.  Give your gallery a title, optionally a subtitle, and click “insert flash gallery”.  Then publish your post, and that’s it — a fullscreen-able flash gallery of those images in just a few clicks.

You can customize just about every aspect of your flash galleries under “Appearance” => “P3 Customize” => “Galleries” => “Flash Galleries”.  This includes, colors, fonts, rounded corners, slideshow options, uploading a logo for the splash screen, and much more.

Also, any post or page that includes a flash gallery can be set as as “featured gallery”.  To do so, just click the “featured gallery” checkbox under the save-post sidebar item.  Then, go to “Appearance” => “P3 Customize” => “Menu” and turn on the “Featured galleries dropdown” menu item. All featured galleries you have created will now appear in this dropdown.  Clicking on one of the links will popup a new window with just that flash gallery in it.  Use this feature to highlight your best galleries.

Lightbox Galleries:

Another cool option for showing off your images is in a javascript lightbox thumbnail gallery.  Same as with the flash gallery, you start by uploading a batch of images, and clicking “P3 Lightbox Gallery” when WordPress is done crunching.  After publishing your post, P3 will insert all of those images as a javascript-based, lightbox-style thumbnail gallery.  As always, we’ve given you lots of ways to customize this, look under “Appearance” => “P3 Customize” => “Galleries” => “Javascript Lightbox Galleries”.

Post Excerpt Images:

ProPhoto3 can now pull out a single thumbnail or full-sized image to show as part of any post that is shown as an excerpt.  This allows for much sexier excerpts. Customization options under “Appearance” => “P3 Customize” => “Content” => “Excerpts”.

P3 Insert All

Lots of photogs have complained that WordPress doesn’t give them the ability to insert all of their uploaded images for a post into a post without resorting to using the ‘gallery’ feature.  P3 now adds a “P3 Insert All” button below your uploaded images, which sends them all, full-size to the post editor, where you can type in between them to your heart’s content.

Watermark Overlay:

For image protection and branding, P3 can now overlay a watermark image over any images you post.  Upload an image, position it, and set the watermark opacity under “Appearance” => “P3 Customize” => “Content” => “Text & Images”.

RSS Feed image protection:

P3 not only has the ability to protect your images from most would-be image thieves on your actual blog pages, but now in your RSS feed instead.  There are options to downsize, remove links, or remove images altogether from your RSS feeds for copyright protection.

Social Media Integration:

P3 contains a bunch of new social media features we think you’re going to love.  New custom twitter widgets in several varieties, Facebook badges, icons, and more.  These social media widgets can be customized and placed in any number of spots on your ProPhoto3 blog — your bio, sidebar, sliding drawers, or footer.

Widgetized Bio Area:

The bio area in P3 is now much more powerful and flexible.  All bio content is now handled by widgets, including numerous custom P3 widgets.  The new arrangement allows for up to 5 columns of bio content so that you can probably pull off any arrangement of your bio that you can dream of with a few clicks.  Adding Facebook, Twitter, etc. widgets and badges in the bio also couldn’t be easier thanks to the new custom social media widgets added by P3.

Sidebars:

Fixed sidebar:

Lot’s of people have asked for an option to add a true sidebar to the ProPhoto theme, and in P3 you can do just that.  Add a fixed, second column sidebar on the right or left of your blog, customize it’s width, background, etc, and stuff it full of whatever content you want through the use of widgets.  You can even choose what sorts of pages you want to have a sidebar on, and leave other kinds of pages single-column.  Turn on the Fixed sidebar under “Appearance” => “P3 Customize” => “Sidebar” => “Fixed sidebar’.

Sliding drawer-style sidebars:

For those of you who want to add content into a sidebar, but don’t want to give up any space to show off your images as big as possible, we’ve created a new type of sidebar that we call “sliding drawers”.  These sidebars are tucked away at the edge of the screen, only a small ‘tab’ peeking out, showing that there is more content over there.  When a user mouses over one of the tabs, the drawer slides into place, revealing whatever content you have put there via widgets.  These are hard to explain, but super slick.  Activate them by dragging widgets into them on the widgets page, and customize them at “Appearance” => “P3 Customize” => “Sidebar” => “Sliding Drawers”.

Even more coolness:

This could take all day, so I’ll start listing stuff:

  • reorder your nav menu links
  • center nav menu links with one click
  • 4 brand new, gorgeous starter-designs that show off the power of all the new P3 customization options
  • ajaxed comment adding (no more clicking to the permalink page to leave comments)
  • lots of new areas where you can upload and customize css background images for more design control
  • several areas of database optimization for faster load times
  • footer now can be 1-4 columns, depending on where you add/remove widgets
  • 6 new header layouts
  • new flash header transitions
  • flash header images can be linked to URL’s
  • new masthead options: show random static mastheads
  • lots of performance improvements in CSS and JS
  • automated monthly emails reminding you to back up your blog
  • upload custom .swf files to replace your masthead or logo
  • new, powerful SEO customization options
  • a totally redesigned “Designs” area, much more intuitive and fun to use
